My credit card was stolen. I checked my balance tonight and noticed approximately $237 in unauthorized charges. I immediately called the issuer … and was put on hold for nearly an hour. After getting transferred to the “Security” department and interrogated [I sort of had the impression that they thought I was lying about the charges], the CSR cancelled four unauthorized payments and my account. The CSR also determined that all the unauthorized charges were from on-line purchases. Looking at the websites from which my card was charged, the sites were all payment processors for adult websites. [I should be the only person using my credit card to look at porn]. I have an idea of how my card was stolen [no, it was not an unscruplous website], but no way to prove that it is who I think it is, which is unfortunate because I have a continuing need to do business with that particular company. So I should be receiving a new card in a few days, and all the charges were credited back to me.

I’ve been shopping online for as far back as I could remember, and this is the first time anything like this has happened. I still can’t believed it happened.

I feel violated.
